FInTAG guidance – Estimating Legal Exposure

This guidance, produced by the Financial Instruments and Transactions Advisory Group (FInTAG), formerly Contingent Liabilities Central Capability (CLCC), provides a practical framework for assessing and estimating legal exposures. It supports UK government departments and other public bodies in taking a consistent and proportionate approach to financial reporting and contingent liabilities. It covers the estimation of expected loss and reasonable worst case, alongside the evidence, assumptions and uncertainties that support those estimates.
