Financial Investment Report 2026

This year’s Financial Investment Report from UK Government Investments brings together data from government departments, arm’s length bodies and designated public financial institutions to analyse the UK government’s £52bn investment portfolio.

The report delivers additional transparency and accountability through increasingly detailed analysis of the portfolio’s value, performance and risks through data provided to UKGI for this report.

Financial transactions are an increasingly important tool for delivering the government’s priorities, allowing public money to be used to support investment, address market failures and mobilise private capital. As their use grows, it is vital that government understands not only the outcomes they deliver, but also the financial performance and risks they create. This report plays a crucial role in providing a portfolio-wide view, strengthening transparency and supporting better management of public money.

– Siobhán Duffy, Director of UKGI’s Financial Instruments and Transactions Advisory Group (FInTAG)

This report:

  • Outlines and analyses changes in the aggregate value and distribution of the investment portfolio and how these investments have been valued (Chapter 2)

  • Examines the level of risk within the government’s portfolio of investments (Chapter 4)

This work demonstrates the government’s commitment to provide increased transparency around its investments as set out in the Financial Transaction Control Framework.
